Chapter 235: Closing the Leak

Since the extras were always added at the last second after the crew sent a request to the casting company, it was highly unlikely that they were the ones who had leaked it.

“Well, even though the extras didn’t all arrive on set at the same time, it’s certain that they weren’t here when Tan Mo joined us.
What’s more, she only showed up here once on the first day of shooting,” Tan Jinqi said as he drew a circle with his finger on the table and pointed to the middle of it.
“That’s why we can cut down the number of suspects to just those who were present on day one.”

“But, those who joined later could also have heard about it from other people, right? Or people might talk about it?” the assistant asked.

“No,” Tan Jinqi shook his head.
“The only people who were here on the first day were the main and supporting actors.
They are all famous people.
Do you really think they would even bother talking to those playing a minor character or an extra?”

“Makes sense…” The assistant nodded.
“How about the property masters and the rest of the other staff?”

“They are people who knew about Tan Mo before she even joined us.
They are also people who knew about the bad situation we’ve been thrown into.
Another thing is that Director Liu is the one who brought them here with him.
They would most likely side with him instead of betraying him.
We should at least trust them since they know what it would do to the whole crew if they leaked such information.
Plus, if they wanted to leak the information, why would they have waited until now?”

“Right! Oh my God, your family’s DNA is just freaking amazing.
How can you and your sister be so smart?” the assistant exclaimed as he slapped his own leg.

Of course, Tan Mo was naturally smart since she was a prodigy who was attending Beijing University at the age of 15, but Tan Jinqi had also just shown knowledge to prove that even if he didn’t want to become a film director, he could always opt to lead his family’s business without any problem.

The others finally realized why Director Hou had agreed to teach this young man.

Some might think that Director Hou had done it because Tan Jinqi came from a prestigious family.
However, if one were to ask the director himself, he would say it was because of what the young man could achieve.

Tan Jinqi smiled, not planning to be humble when it came to his siblings.
“Actually, I have two little brothers who are older than Tan Mo.
They’re the best in their own fields as well.”

Even Director Liu was jealous of the Tan family’s DNA now.

If they’re all this smart…damn, I’m so jealous of his parents.

“And the conclusion is?” Director Liu quickly shifted the conversation back to what they’d been talking about.

“Oh, that’s what I wanted to say.
We can start with the people who were here on the first day,” Tan Jinqi replied.

“I had almost come to the same conclusion as well.
That’s why I only called you guys here this time,” the director added.

His assistant had been with him from the start and was someone he could trust.

And Tan Jinqi was Tan Mo’s brother, who would never betray his little sister.

These two people were the only ones he could trust at the moment so that he wouldn’t have to worry about any detail of the meeting getting out to the public.

“I have a list of the people who came that day in my room.
I’ll go get it,” the assistant said.

Director Liu nodded, knowing that he could rely on his assistant.

The assistant had always been careful and kept a record of everything.
His hard work paid off as the record was what they really needed to find out who had leaked the information.

Just as the assistant was about to leave, Tan Jinqi’s phone rang.

It was a call from Zhou Jingan.
He was Butler Zhou’s son who had been living at the Wei Mansion ever since he was little and had grown up with Wei Zhiqian.
He was basically Wei Zhiqian’s brother from another parent.

Zhou Jingan was a year younger than Wei Zhiqian and had just graduated from university two years ago.

As soon as he graduated, he followed Wei Zhiqian’s lead and began working in the Weifeng Company.

Since there was so much to do, Wei Zhiqian couldn’t do it alone, and having another person to assist him in managing a few departments was a great help.

As Wei Zhiqian slowly gained the trust of every department and the higher-ups, Zhou Jingan’s position gradually rose as well.

In the end, Wei Zhiqian decided to just appoint Zhou Jingan as his personal assistant.

Since Zhou Jingan grew up in the Wei Mansion, he was close to Tan Jinqi as well.

“Brother Zhou,” Tan Jinqi greeted him.

He had been addressing Zhou Jingan like that ever since they were children, as the latter was only a year older than he was.

“I’m in your hotel’s lobby now,” Zhou Jingan said.
“Are you in your room?”

“You’re here?” Tan Jinqi jumped up in surprise.
“I’m in Director Liu’s room now.
I’ll meet you in the lobby.”

“All right.
Oh, I’m here because of the leak about Mo Mo being the scriptwriter.”

“Did Young Master Wei find out who did it?”

Director Liu raised his head instantly.
Even though he couldn’t hear the conversation, he could guess that they were talking about the scandal.

Even the assistant stopped and came back inside.

“Yes.
That’s why I’m here today.
I think it’s better to tell you guys in person than over the phone,” Zhou Jingan said.

“I’ll head down now!”

After hanging up the phone, Tan Jinqi turned to Director Liu excitedly.
“That was Wei Zhiqian’s personal assistant, Zhou.
He says he’s here to tell us about what they found out about the leak.”

“Really?” Director Liu got up instantly.
“Hurry up and go! Wait! I’m coming with you.”

Naturally, the assistant followed as well.

The moment they got out of the elevator, they were greeted by Zhou Jingan, who was already waiting for them.

“Mr.
Zhou, you are one good-looking dude.’ Director Liu complimented him the moment he saw Zhou Jingan.

Zhou Jingan had been extremely good-looking ever since he was a baby and had gone to great lengths to keep his face well cared for.
However, the air and gentle smile he carried around him was something he had learned after spending all his life in the Wei Mansion.
It wasn’t something that people could obtain easily.

“Thank you for your compliment, Director Liu.” Zhou Jingan smiled as he shook hands with the director.
“Come, let’s talk in your room.”

Tan Jinqi nodded and quickly led the guest back up to Director Liu’s room.

The moment all of them sat down, Zhou Jingan took out his tablet and showed the contents to the other three people.
“The moment the leak got out, young Master Wei ordered me to look into it.”

Since Wei Zhiqian had to take care of the sponsorship problems and had to put on a show with Han Zhuoli, he didn’t have the time to look into it himself.
This was when having a trusted friend as your own personal assistant came in handy.
He could leave another important task to the assistant and did not have to worry about it either.

“The moment we found out who was behind it, Young Master Wei asked me to come here immediately to show you our findings,” Zhou Jingan explained.
“This is proof of Ding Mengfei’s manager contacting the various news agencies.
And this is her conversation history.
Since only having screenshots aren’t enough as people can say the pictures are fake, we decided to screen-record the whole thing.”
