Chapter 180: Ah Jian’s comforting words

TN: Alrighty, this is all I’ve got for now.
Sorry if there are mistakes, its 2 am and I’m more than ready for bed! Somehow, I always end up translating at night!

Ah Jian turned his head subconsciously and looked at Lian Fang Zhou.
Under the faint light, her expression was calm but her eyebrows were slightly furrowed.
Her expression was like tulle, inexplicable and full of anger and shame.

Ah Jian waited but when he looked again, Lian Fang Zhou had already raised her eyebrows and chuckled.
She gave Lian Ze a gentle look and smiled: “You, ah, why are you in such a hurry? He said this his words and we have our own, what does it matter?”

Lian Ze was startled.

Lian Fang Zhou sneered.
“He asked us to go to Li Zheng’s house tomorrow, shall we go?”

“Yes!” Lian Ze was happy and his spirit felt refreshed.
“What should we do tomorrow? How should we take care of him?”

He sighed heavily, his voice full of frustration.

Why was he not grown up yet? How much weight was there for the words of a child who hadn’t matured? No wonder his uncle didn’t put him in his eyes at all!

Lian Ze squeezed his hands into fists.
He would grow up day by day, no way to hurry.

“It’s late, lets go to bed.” Lian Fang Zhou said, smiling again.

Third Aunt understood Lian Fang Zhou’s meaning and immediately relaxed her heart.
She told the twins to wash their faces and feet, smiling.

“You two go to sleep too!” Lian Fang Zhou hesitated when she saw Qin Feng and Su Zi Ji standing to the side, talking to them softly.

Qin Feng and Su Zi Ji both agreed cautiously and stepped back silently.

Neither of them were dumb, they understood what Lian Li had meant by ‘eldest’ uncle and aunt.

The moment they left, they couldn’t help but glance at Lian Fang Zhou with their heads turned slightly.
In their hearts, they thought: It’s not easy for a girl!

“Are you okay?” There was no one else in the room as Ah Jian stepped forward and asked Lian Fang Zhou in a low voice.

Lian Fang Zhou raised her eyes and brushed away the stray hairs on her face casually, saying with a smile: “I’m fine, you should get to sleep too!”

“Alright.” Ah Jian nodded.
He hesitated but didn’t speak, leaving to wash and go to bed.

For a while after everyone had gone to sleep, Lian Fang Zhou sat in the room without moving under the pretext of planning something for tomorrow.

The charcoal in the brazier gradually faded and the surface was covered with a layer of white ash.
Though it was warm, the cold surroundings could still clearly be felt.
Lian Fang Zhou hugged her body and picked up the tongs to prod the charcoal again.

She forced her heart to calm down.

“Be careful!” A voice suddenly called out of the darkness.
She was startled by the sudden low tone and dodged quickly when the person reached out to pull her aside.
The figure appeared before her.

It was Ah Jian.

“Are you okay?”

“Why are you not asleep yet!”

The two of them spoke at the same time.
Looking at each other, they both smiled.

Ah Jian sat down across from Lian Fang Zhou and said gently, “You… you’re not happy in your heart?”

Lian Fang Zhou’s eyes were dim and she sighed heavily.
“Ah Jian, I won’t hide it from you.
You’ve see my elder uncle and aunt! Even after all this time, they have not given up! I really don’t know what to do.
How long are they going to make a fuss? What is all this about ‘blood connection’ and ‘elders’! I don’t care about it, I just want to think about Ah Ze, Qing’er, and Che’er!

After a pause, she added: “I’m not afraid of their arrogant, unreasonable, despicable, shameless behavior! I’m afraid that they will put on an innocent face and convince others of their complaints! After all, I’m just a woman and Ah Ze is several years away from adulthood.
Hmph, if uncle really was repentant and wanted to ‘take care of us’, I think that even Zhang Li Zheng and the others would agree! They likely feel that this is the best thing and its for our own good, right?”

Realizing this, after Lian Li’s words, Lian Fang Zhou had felt as sick and disgusted as Lian Ze but she hadn’t said a word to argue against Lian Li.

Since he had already come up with this idea, there was nothing she could say to change his mind so why bother?

Maybe he would have even liked to turn it into a big mess so that he could invite other people to watch!

“Now that our family has bought so many fields, owns a large property at the entrance of the village, and hosted a distinguished guest like Young Master Cui, I don’t know how many people are jealous in secret! I wish that we were unlucky! If we refuse to allow our uncle to take care of us, it makes us seem unreasonable.
Unless we tear off our faces and splash around, those jealous people won’t be satisfied and they’ll take the opportunity to cause trouble.”

“Don’t be too sad,” Ah Jian said softly.
“Let’s think about it, there is always a way!”

He suddenly chuckled.
“Could it be that Fang Zhou has given up and will give into fate like this?”

Lian Fang Zhou suddenly raised her head and smiled at him, saying: “What you are saying is that ‘if there is a will, there is a way’! To avoid this matter tomorrow, its okay to drag it out first!” Lian Fang Zhou sneered in her heart.
Since he wants to be an elder so bad, he will have to act like an elder to show people he is sincere, right? I don’t believe he would dare be aggressive! I’m looking forward to it!”

Ah Jian thought for a while and said, “I don’t think you need to wait very long!”

Seeing Lian Fang Zhou’s eyes brightly looking over, he couldn’t help but laugh.
“Fang Zhou, did you forget? Your uncle has a little bit of experience with the world, but your aunt does not! Just look at her attitude tonight and think about it!”

Lian Fang Zhou’s eyes widened sharply and her eyes waved like flashing stars.
The smile on her lips grew deeper and deeper and she chuckled softly.
“As you said.
Tomorrow that couple will go to find Li Zheng.
If we don’t show up, how would my eldest aunt react?”

“If someone stimulates her again, I’m afraid that not even your uncle could stop her!” Ah Jian added.

Lian Fang Zhou’s heart moved, and she had a vague idea.

She clapped her hands with joy and smiled: “Let’s do it together!”

The two discussed it for another half hour before the charcoal in the brazier was almost burnt out and barely gave off any heat.

Her body was young.
Even after saying up late, Lian Fang Zhou was only a little sleepy.
She yawned and stood up, smiling gratefully at Ah Jian.
“Ah Jian, thank you so much! It’s getting late, so go back to bed soon.”

Ah Jian smiled: “You go back to your room first, so I can sleep well.”

“You too!” Lian Fang Zhou smiled and said goodnight.

When she reached the door, she suddenly stopped and glanced back at Ah Jian.
She moved her lips as if she wanted to say something but turned it into a smile.
She nodded at him and as he watched, she walked away.

What Ah Jian had done for her and her family, a simple ‘thank you’ was no longer good enough.

Since this was the case, why should she say more? Besides, it was hypocritical!

She just needed to keep his wholehearted help in mind and do her best when he needed her help.
