CHAPTER – 8 ITEM BOX

　Dimensional magic certainly is difficult to learn.
But for an Item Box, anyone with magical power can learn using the scrolls merchants sell.
It shouldn’t be that surprising of a magic.

「… Maybe, are you a porter belonging to some guild? Then I can understand why your adventurer rank is low.」(AN: from the context, I’m taking it that a porter is a designated member that uses their magic/scrolls to help their guilds by putting all of their loot in a safe place, kind of like the person in rpg parties that is tasked with going around collecting the members’ loot so they don’t get distracted while they’re grinding)

「No, that’s not it.」

　When I answered with that, Fina looked down and muttered, 「If so … No way, did you actually learn it without realizing? You have a keen eye for observation, don’t you? That couldn’t be …」(AN: if you don’t understand the conversation, he’s saying that he “all of a sudden” remembered how to use dimensional magic.
Fina thought that he might have known it from working at a guild previously, and he said no.
Then, she came to the conclusion that he might have learned it without even realizing, but is confused because he should have been able to realize instantly with how smart he is.)

Jirei:「I don’t think it’s that surprising though…?」

When Fina looked at me strangely, the masked woman explained, 「Item Boxes are easy to learn, it just costs a lot of magical power to use.
That alone would make you deficient in magical power.
Just learning it consumes enormous magical power, so if you were a normal adventurer you could never learn it.
That’s why only people who have mastered an exclusive porter or a witch job has a lot of magical power can use it …No way, you didn’t know? 」

　The masked escort woman said with dismay.
Apparently it was news to her.
The stall Ossan hadn’t said anything about that.
For some reason, it was so cheap that the Ossan’s smile was thin when she sold it, but no way… (AN: he’s saying that when he bought the scroll to use Item Boxes from an older woman in a stall, she hadn’t said how rare it was)

　When she (the escort) turned to look at Fina, Fina looked away awkwardly.
I turned to the adventurers who were listening to the story.
I didn’t really understand why Letty was staring at me with glittering eyes, but she was saying, 「The master is amazing!」

Fina:「Well, even if you can’t use other magics, if you can use Item Box, it will definitely come in handy depending on its capacity… Please live strong.
」

　Fina looks at me with poor eyes.
No, other magic can be used normally.
(AN: he means that no other magic can be bought and learned with a scroll)

Jirei:「I can also use other magic–」

Fina:「Well, this candy is a high-class candy from that 『Chartet』! It was so popular that it sold out soon after its release, but was able to get some!」

　Fina blatantly changes the topic when I try to say I can use other magic.

「Ah, I actually have an acquaintance working there.
She sends me chocolate regularly.
I told her that I don’t need it anymore though, because I don’t like sweets very much.」

「I see … I envy you.
The Royal Castle- no, it’s hard to get even for a famous aristocrat.
I really like it…」

　Fina, enchanted by the rabbit-shaped candy, sighed.

「If you like it so much, do you want some more? Since you treated me to supper, I’ll give you more.
Please tell us your impressions.」

　As it was, I didn’t think I would be able to eat it all, so I take some more out from my Item Box and hand it to her.

　Fina’s eyes sparkled as she rejoiced, 「Ah, thank you very much! I’ll take good care of it!」 No, aren’t you supposed to eat it?

「…………Ji-」

　I gave back for the supper, and when I was satisfied that I didn’t have to owe a favor, I felt a gaze from the people around me.
(AN: he was worried that Fina may use that to make him owe her)

　Looking back, I noticed Letty, who had a greedy appearance.
It seems that two of the hero parties are also staring at us.

　I took out some more candy,  「…?」and presented it to them.
(AN: the author put  “…?” to signify that the others were confused on what he was doing)

　Letty’s smile was like a flower blooming as she jumped at the sweets.

　The two hero parties also seemed to be pleased, saying, 「Oh, I’ll take it because it can’t be helped.」 「…Thank you.」

　When I gave it to other adventurers, they were really thankful.
「I’ve never eaten such delicious sweets!」 「The moment I put it in my mouth, it melts and disappears …This is the real deal…!」

「Oh, you also? Is it delicious?」

　While everyone was enjoying the high-class sweets, only one person hadn’t eaten- Cain, so I went to him and handed some over.

「……Noisy.」

　However, Cain just stands there and doesn’t even look at me.
It’s probably because we had a quarrel a while ago.
Fina gave me moxibustion, and I want to flush it away with water… (AN: I don’t know why, but I had a good chuckle over this.
“Moxibustion” is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to promote healing with acupuncture.
So, basically, Jirei said that her talking felt like someone was stabbing dirty needles into him, and he wants to “wash it off,” aka get away from her xD)

「If you don’t want it then throw it away, I’ll leave it here.」

　I put some sweets next to Cain and tell him, 「If you eat it, please tell me what you think.」, and leave.

　I was happy to be able to dispose of the sweets that were sent several times a month, and everyone else was happy too, so it was the best possible outcome.

　The letter from Sharu said, 「Tell me what you think of them!」, So if I ask everyone what they think, the mission will be complete.
Speaking of which, it said, 「Tell me what you think, not a letter, but verbally! Come and play!」 I think I’m good.
(AN: Sharu wants him to come visit and “play,” but he’d rather not)

AN: Hello! Sorry if I did a few more “notes” than usual, this chapter had a bit of confusing wording, so I was worried that I wasn’t making the meanings clear.
Also, I’m finding it funny how it seems like Jirei is starting to become really sarcastic.
Not to mention the two hero parties that turned tsundere halfway through the chapter lol.
